Did you know there’s a breach in the Democratic Party? Well, y’shoulda known.
Did you claim that Dems can’t agree on Healthcare … except on healthcare being a universal right.
Did you argue that Dems can’t agree on raising Middle Class Taxes … except, that is, that they agree on making the bottom line better for the 90% and beginning to charge the 10% more and the 1% a fair tax for living in a country that has made them filthy rich and has us all questioning whether worshipping Mammon (Matthew 6) might not be a Godly thing to do, after all.
Did you feign to imagine that Dems can’t agree on immigration … except of course that we all want a universal bill of rights to apply to all those categories of human-folk that Mosaic Law says it should apply to … the orphan, the widow, the diabled, the stranger in your midst and the sojourner who has entered your Land … “because you were (and might someday, again, be) a stranger in a Land not yours.”

I could go on and I usually would, were I not so very pissed off at CNN’s playing the same game that has been played out since Herr Drumpf descended the escalator and assuredly since he ascended the throne. Everyone pretty much agrees except for the POT (Party of Trump) that establishing false moral equivalencies is a dastardly thing to do. Certainly, most of America was shocked to find out that people who march with Neo-Nazi’s can be “very nice people.” Equally shocked? that people who vocally protest against White Nationalists can be ‘very, very bad.’
CNN, last night, and many of the candidates played into a version of the game that’s been played out since the beginning of this shit-show, 3 years ago. At the start, the Media was reporting what Trump said, as if he had anything approximating belief in it … rather than just another stunt … to divert attention … to project his own pathologies and weaknesses onto others … to buy votes. Nobody in their right mind (I guess as a psychoanalyst I shouldn’t use that expression … but I’m pissed) thinks that Donnie Boy believes 5% of what comes out of his pie-shaped maw. And, yet, the media kept talking about what “trump believes.” I was saying it in 2015 but by now it’s accepted wisdom that Donnie’s only interest is in self-promotion and self-aggrandizement. Even were I one of his kids, I’d hire security to watch my back. Nothing less! The Media did the same thing with Turtle McCurdle’s (now reborn as Moskva Mitch) bullshit about Merritt Garland. Does the man have a shred of decency left in his body?
And, yeah, yeah! … We all know that Sec. Clinton was not speaking any virulent untruth in her gaff in finding ‘tiskets, taskets and deplorables in full baskets’ among the Trump Supporters. But what about us? We think the POT are all rubes. Well, time to look homeward, now. Do we really think that the Germans (skip the adolescent brownshirts) believed the dreck coming out of Hitler’s mouth. No! But they acted AS IF it were so and we’re doing the same thing.
DEM’S in DISARRAY! ….. Garbage!
The Democratic Platform is pretty clearly in focus. Healthcare for all doesn’t require a Socialist takeover. A graduated tax system that permits the bottom 90% of wage earners a decent life doesn’t mean a Kommunist Revolution, Komrade. Are Bernie Sanders and/or Elizabeth Warren radical Leftists? You’ve gotta be kidding. And decency at our borders, rather than what is beginning to approximate East German guards mowing down people leaving to a better place in West Berlin or, yes, throwing children into packed cages. Hey! Is Donnie ready to start hanging Tiger Cages up in these for profit Camps in which our BorderGuards and Rent-a-Kops treat those who are captured (‘I have no respect for people who are captured’) better than they woulda gotten at Hanoi Hilton, aye?
Let’s stop worrying about “the rubes” and begin fretting over our own giving safe passage to this bizarre idea that the Left is splintered or that there’s anything vaguely socialistic about a social contract that seeks to take care of the so-called least among us. Remember that the notion of a social contract, itself, has multiple purposes. Yes, it rides on our belief that we are a decent people. But, let’s not forget that it also protects those who have hitched a ride — whether by hard work or by parental welfare — on the American Dream from civil unrest and violence that eventually processes from treating those of us who are in need without kindness and decency.
