Trumpian and far-right no-big-government-interference-unless-you’re-a-woman-and-want-control-of-your-body Nick Freitas (VA, HD-30) failed to get his name on the ballot in a crucial election year in Virginia, where Democrats are fighting hard to overcome razor-thin margins and win majorities in both houses. Freitas has launched a write-in campaign and the whole situation has caused much turmoil in the Virginia GOP (see excellent low-down by Harold Boyd).

Fortune is smiling on Democrats, though, because we’ve got a TERRIFIC candidate in Ann Ridgeway! Though Freitas is at a severe disadvantage in not being on the ballot, the district is bright red. So, Ann’s got a fighting chance but needs our help. If you can please DONATE.
How did all this come about? Well, between them, Nick and a Republican Party official failed to file three crucial documents with the Virginia State Board of Elections. Freitas has called foul and has acknowledged zero responsibility, instead posting on YouTube a pathetic video where he blames his lapse on a left-wing conspiracy: The dog-ate-my-homework defense transposed onto our fractious political scene. So, dear Reader, the question remains: what the HECK was Nick Freitas that was more important than filling out and filing his paperwork? Here are some suggestions:
Nick is supported by the NRA and by the Virginia Citizens Defense League, which is even more extreme and which is highly effective in making sure gun control legislation is killed in committee.
Nick is not, to my knowledge, a Nazi, but he sure knows how to inspire those who are!
The deer-caught-in-the-headlights look is very sweet.
Nick sounds like a nice father, but c’mon guy, set an example and do your homework first!

To be noted: Nick got his undergraduate degree from a diploma mill and has no special knowledge of Economics. Liberty University should be ashamed to invite an uncredentialed speaker. But maybe Jerry Falwell Jr. is too busy paying off pool-boys to notice (you MUST click on the link for a hilarious video).

This is the end of the letterChris Marston, the VA GOP General Counsel, sent to the State Board of Elections Commissioner, begging on Nick’s behalf and expressing regret over their screw-ups. Wonder if Nick considers Marston to be part of the left-wing machine working against him?
