So if your administration’s policies had screwed one of your boss’s key constituencies sideways, do you think you might hold off on insulting them to their faces?
Well, not if you’re part of this administration, which has an uncanny knack for always making things worse.
At a listening session last week in Minnesota, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue heard horror stories from farmers, who’ve been pantsed so thoroughly by this administration and its trade wars they now qualify for honorary doctorates from Trump University.
So what did he do? Oh, he rubbed salt in the wound — though he stopped short of burning and salting their fields, for some reason.
HuffPo:
At a Farmfest listening session with farmers in Minnesota, Perdue hit back at the complaints with his joke: “What do you call two farmers in a basement? A whine cellar.”
As he pounded the table in mirth, some of the thousands of farmers at the event laughed nervously — which was followed by boos.
“It was definitely not an appropriate thing to say,” Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish told HuffPost. “It was very insensitive. It took everyone by surprise. He doesn’t understand what farmers are dealing with, and he’s the head of the Department of Agriculture. He’s supposed to be working for farmers.”
Maybe he should visit kids in cancer wards dressed as Pennywise the Clown from It. Because that could be funny, too. You know, if you’re a fucking psychopath.
