Team of British Antarctic Survey, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia Univ. and Dept. of Earth and Space Sciences in U. of Washington led by Paul R. Holland published their New study reveals the first evidence of a direct link between human-induced global warming and melting of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. That work is accessible Here.
Stefan Rahmstorf is a man working as Head of Earth System Analysis at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and as a professor of Physics of the Oceans at Potsdam University who posted
That on the same day NASA released this report:
The combined global land and ocean surface temperature for January–July 2019 was 0.95°C (1.71°F), tying with 2017 as the second highest January–July period since global records began in 1880. Only January–July 2016 was warmer at +1.09°C (+1.96°F). According to NCEI's global annual temperature ranking outlook, it is virtually certain that 2019 will end among the top five warm years.
July 2019 Antarctic Sea Ice Extent was 4.3% below the 1981—2010 average which was the smallest July sea ice extent on record — similarly, Arctic Sea Ice Extent was 19.8% below 1981—2010 average, the smallest July Arctic sea ice extent since satellite records began in 1979. All forms of inequality get magnified by climate chaos. From our homes & housing to our healthcare and everything in between, it all gets worse when a flash flood during or just after an excessive heat event occurs on our United States doorsteps. While we suffer, our elected officials keep pandering to our own shortsightedness which is responsible for this crisis that’s definitely already happening, being felt everywhere and clearly having very real consequences on people’s lives.
Just one example is the deafening silence of DNC and RNC leaders in the lack of scheduling Climate Chaos topical debates in the current electoral primary campaigns. The August DNC meeting is at hand with no indication how it will respond on August 23rd when the DNC’s 400+ members will vote on scheduling Climate Chaos debates.

Here’s an Idea!
Can you deliver an Extreme Heat Awareness Kit to your member of Congress?
Political power is critical if we're going to avoid the path to the most catastrophic climate outcomes.
Making a visit to your legislator's office is one of the most effective ways to show elected officials their constituents care about climate change—and they expect Congress to take action now before it's too late. Just by showing up, you are sending a powerful message that you care!
Action Item:
Focusing on one clear, legislative ask:
Congressional staff say visits to congressional offices in states and districts for even 5 or 10 minutes can have a lasting impact. You can be an effective advocate, no matter your background, schedule or location.
So, you’re going down to the nearest District Office with a friend or two for your moral support to meet or ask to meet with your Senator or Representative as your single most effective action.

Here’s help from NETWORK, Advocates for Justice Inspired by Catholic Sisters— Home of #NunsOnTheBus and Sister-Spirit giving us a great Tool here —Educate, Organize, Lobby— Try it!
Neither FCNL nor NETWORK have specifically supported nor denied support to the UCS action plan and legislative agenda, yet their toolbox items to aid ordinary people in lobbying are nonetheless helpful. Hope you’ll put them to good use!
