I just got the oddest polling phone call. An automated poll from 214-283-1316 that said it was from Rasmussen polling. The ONLY head-to-head match-up polled in the call (which lasted about 10 minutes) was President Trump vs Senator Harris.
I was in the middle of cooking supper and didn’t get to record any of the call, but here is my best memory. I’m putting it out as a diary as a reference point in case anyone else got a similar call and/or analysts want to figure out what it means.
These questions may not be in EXACT order, but it’s close. It’s abbreviated because I’m STILL cooking, so the yes/no questions also include “not sure,” but I’m only typing it once — HERE.
1. Are you 18 or over?
2. Do you think the country is on the right track or wrong track?
3. Do you think President Trump is doing a good/bad/etc. job running the country?
4. Do you consider yourself Republican/Democrat/Other Party/Independent?
5. If the election were held today, would you vote for President Trump or Kamala Harris? (I can’t remember, but don’t think that they called her “Senator”)
6. What is your opinion of Harris — slightly fav, very fav….. very unfav
7. How do you feel about the economy? Getting better? Worse? Same?
8. Are you a business owner? If so, do you expect to hire people in the next year? How many?
9. Do you invest in the stock market? If so, how much do you have invested? (it gave tiers “less than $5k,” etc)
10. Do you think it would be good for the country to have more states?
11: How many states do you think the country has now? --— SERIOUSLY???? -— They started at 39 states….
12. repeated the same questions about Senator Harris… ????
11. Demographic questions…. education, kids at home?, ethnicity, age
Again, I may be a little off and there may have been some other questions I forgot, but… WTF?
Asking twice about Senator Harris and no other candidates? And the whole “how many states are in the union” question? Seriously, if you can’t answer that, you don’t need to be voting.
Interesting data points.
