Blenheim Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Woodstock, England.
The palace, whose construction was begun in 1705, was a reward
from Queen Anne to the Duke of Marlborough for his victories over the French and Bavarians, most notably at the Battle of Blenheim.
The sprawling English Baroque style edifice is actually on an estate owned by the crown but leased at the nominal rent of one copy of the French royal flag to be given to the Monarch annually on the anniversary of the Battle of Blenheim.
The palace contains tapestries, furnishings and artifacts from over 300 years of history and is home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough.
It was the birthplace and ancestral home of Winston Churchill
and has an extensive exhibit on his life.
In addition to the palace, gardens and lake, there is a theater and other cultural events and programming. This fall, if you visit Blenheim, you’ll be able to book three minutes in private with ‘America’ the 18-karat-gold toilet the Guggenheim Museum famously offered to Trump after rejecting his request to borrow a Van Gogh for the White House. America is one of several iconic artworks by famed Italian Conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan that will be installed at Blenheim. (More on the exhibition)
The golden throne is being warmly welcomed at the palace — and with a sense of humor entirely lacking in Trump. Edward Spencer-Churchill from the Blenheim Art Foundation told the Times: “Despite being born with a silver spoon in my mouth I have never had a s*** on a golden toilet, so I look forward to it.”
