As you might be aware, the UK Supreme Court is hearing a case to determine whether Boris Johnson’s progrogation (suspension) of Parliament was lawful. Undoubted star of Wednesday’s hearing was Aiden O’Neill representing Scottish MPs and supporting the ruling in the Scottish Court of Session that Boris’s actions were unlawful.
Boris had his own troubles. Tuesday he chickened out of a press conference with the Prime Minister of Luxemburg because of noisy protests. only to be “empty podiumed” by his host. Wednesday he tried another of his days out “not” conducting a general election campaign. After being slammed by the most senior Police Chief for using recruits as a background to a speech (which would be illegal during an actual campaign), he was confronted at a hospital by a father worried about the lack of provision on the ward. Boris’s response shows exactly why he is the “Father of Lies”
His Euro troubles continue as it appears his new “proposals” so far for a withdrawal agreement are basically the Theresa May deal with the Irish backstop provisions deleted. This has not gone down well. After months of Trumpian bluster and waffle, Boris is being told to p*ss or get off the pot.
France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, and Finland’s prime minister, Antti Rinne, told reporters in Paris that they were both “concerned about what is happening in Britain”.
“We need to know what the UK is proposing,” said Rinne, whose country currently holds the EU’s rotating presidency. “Loose talk about proposals for negotiations is irresponsible … The UK should make its possible own proposals very soon if they would like them to be discussed.”
Rinne said: “We both agreed that it is now time for Boris Johnson to produce his own proposals in writing – if they exist. If no proposals are received by the end of September, then it’s over.
