Things are about to get even more interesting and dramatic as members of the Trump crime family begin to turn on each other. Take for instance Rudy Giuliani, who increasingly finds himself in the uncomfortable position of being the most likely person to take the fall for Donald Trump. The alternative is taking the fall on the way to Trump himself. The knives are already out. In a late Tuesday article in The Washington Post, someone in the White House appears to be taking direct aim at Giuliani:
Trump’s closest advisers, including acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, who was ordered by Trump to suspend the aid to Ukraine, are also increasingly targets of internal finger-pointing. Mulvaney has agitated for foreign aid to be cut universally but has also stayed away from meetings with Giuliani and Trump, officials said. But the person who appears to have been more directly involved at nearly every stage of the entanglement with Ukraine is Giuliani.
“Rudy — he did all of this,” one U.S. official said. “This s---show that we’re in — it’s him injecting himself into the process.”
Earlier in the day, the State Department flatly denied that Giuliani had acted on its behalf, saying, "Mr. Giuliani is a private citizen and acts in a personal capacity as a lawyer for President Trump. He does not speak on behalf of the U.S. Government."
After all that, Giuliani appeared on Fox’s The Ingraham Angle, pushed back on the State Department denial, and waved his phone at the camera, saying he had the calls from the State Department to prove him right. Watch below for some serious jiu-jitsuing!
If that weren’t enough, Giuliani came up with the most asinine explanation ever as to why he simply had to carry out this mission: He’s Donald Trump’s attorney, and he had to intervene in national security matters to defend his client. And, and, and, he had to do it because the FBI would be unable to connect the dots. See? Makes total sense! He had every right to be involved in dangling $400 million in aid because he was defending Donald Trump, as his private attorney.
Rudy is in a lotta lotta trouble, y’all.
