Elizabeth Warren has been making waves with her commitment to clear the hours-long “selfie lines” that form at her rallies, but there is something special she does with every little girl who waits for a picture with her: She makes a pinky promise with them, telling them she’s running for office because “that’s what girls do.”
That experience has inspired at least one young woman to launch her first political campaign. Meet 10-year-old Fallon Shepherd, who attends Twitchell Elementary School in Henderson, Nevada. Speaking to her fellow students at a school assembly, Fallon launched her campaign for school president in a big, big way. At the end of her speech, she held up a picture of Elizabeth Warren and said, “One last thing: This is Elizabeth Warren, the senator from Massachusetts. She is running for president of the United States, and I’ve met her three times and I made a pinky promise to her that I would run for office one day because she told me, ‘That’s what girls do!’” Fallon then rallied the crowd to repeat Warren’s words.
Sure enough, the roomful of kids roared back, “THAT’S WHAT GIRLS DO!”
Fallon’s father, Brian Shepherd, shared the video on Twitter and reported she got the loudest crowd response of the day. Watch it below.
Go Fallon, go!
