Hard to write on my phone while doing Madeline’s vest therapy.
Hurricane Dorian, a devastating Category 5 storm, hit the Northern Bahamas on Sunday and slowly made its way through the islands.
ShelterBox has activated our emergency response team to evaluate how to help people who have lost their homes across the affected islands in the Bahamas. The team will arrive in the region this week. In every emergency there is an urgency to act, and often not good information to act on in the hours following a major catastrophe. Full assessments on the ground are needed to establish if there are any gaps in the need for emergency shelter that we can fill.
ShelterBox has aid pre-positioned in Panama that we can deploy to the Bahamas if it is needed. We are actively communicating with local partners, including Rotarian contacts in Rotary District 7020 and at Rotary International headquarters.
