Stay at home. Stay six feet apart. Avoid human contact. I did these things.I only left the house when I had to. My wife and Sister in law worried about me getting COVID 19. Diane worked as a Nurse. My wife used to be a medication aide.
I was doing everything I was supposed to, yet I still got COVID 19.
On a Monday, I noticed I felt funny. I was running a low fever. 99.6 degrees. I thought maybe it was cold. The weather was screwed up here. Cold one day; warm and rainy the next. I felt sick to my stomach and had a light headache.
Tuesday I still had a fever and threw up in the middle of the night. I NEVER throw up! So I called my family doctor. He ordered a COVID 19 test immediately. Because of a backlog in testing, the soonest I could get in was Thursday.
I was still running a steady fever. My wife and Sister in law had "quarantined" me in a bedroom in our house. No contact. I had my TV, DVD player, Computer and tablet. But when you feel that bad three days in a row, none of that really matters. I slept, threw up, and had a watery stool. My stomach and head hurt.
Two days after taking the COVID 19 test they called and said I came back positive.
My doctor ordered a Z-Pack, inhaler, and a couple of other drugs and told me to start taking them immediately. He also told me to continue taking my vitamins, aspirin, heart, and blood pressure medicines.
I did as I was instructed.
For the next two weeks, I continued to throw up, sleep, hurt. My stomach cramped. I could not keep anything down except toast. I was constantly thirsty and drank water by the gallons.
My doctor kept checking on me. He was worried I may need to get on a respirator. Fortunately, I didn't. I kept a fan running in my face for two weeks, which at least seemed to help me.
Then after two weeks of running a fever, puking several times a day, and a constant runny stool, I woke up with a temperature of 98 degrees. I was "hungry" and thirsty. I ate a can of soup. Bean soup! It tasted so good, I almost cried. Better yet, it stayed down.
This was the worst "virus" I had EVER had. I literally thought I was going to die in my sleep. I had been scared I wouldn't be here for my wife. I began to fear she would get it.
The problems I felt afterward; though "minor" still bothers me. Doing anything winds me. It becomes hard to breathe after any exercise. Though I am getting better, I am still weak. My doctor says it may be months before I get to be and feel somewhat normal.
The one thing I refused to do was "lie" about getting it. I told everyone I knew that I had gotten it. I didn't want friends or family to ever feel that pain.
A few days ago, my Doctor said I was no longer a threat of spreading it. My wife tested negative as did my sister in law.
What do I know about this "virus"? Social distancing and wearing a mask might help. Isolating yourself after IS A MUST. The pain lasts for a while and doesn't ease up. Taking aspirin(low dose) blood pressure and heart medication probably helped. The Zpack and breather helped. Continuing to take Vitamin C, D3, Calcium may have helped, but I take them daily, not just because I got sick.
I have had diverticulitis, food poisoning, angina, which hospitalized me and this was WORSE. I DIDNT take Trump's "miracle" drugs or drink bleach or sanitizer and I got through it and over it. Science got me through it.
Anyone can get it, any time, anywhere.
Don't share it with the people you truly love. Keep them away. Wash your hands and use Lysol spray on everything you touch.
I hope this helps ease some fear. That you never ever get this. But if you do, be safe. Do what your doctor suggests. If you ever develop breathing problems, call 911 and get to a hospital. My Dr., My wife, and sister in law saved my life. I have always said "Someone upstairs watches my back" and I still truly believe that.
Don't listen to Politicians who are only worried about re-election and businesses. Stay safe. Listen to Science, not the "President", who has allowed the virus to get in the White House.
Remember This isn't a political issue; a "Chinese" issue, a Democrat issue, an Obama Issue or phony news story. It's real. It can infect anyone, any time, and it IS Horrible.
Stay safe. Keep apart. And if you do get it, remember it will pass, eventually. Do what your Doctors say and help who you can, safely. Till later. Even "THIS" will pass. Let science and medical people lead the way.
I hope this helps.
