Breaking:: It snowed!!. All over BC. It looks darned pretty right now and the kids are ecstatic...it’s Friday and now it’s a SNOWDAY!! So this is about how they feel:
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let
people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Meanwhile...anxious drivers trying to get to work are all like:
And this:
Or this:
And others are doing their own weather reports:
Check out the crashing wave action behind the weather announcers...that’s just a half hour’s drive from me. It’s been stormy all over the coast like that and although we got rain on the Island all afternoon, washing away the snow, it’ll get very nasty by Monday. Sunday will be snowy again, but the temps will drop and a deep freeze will lock in for days. They figure it will be -10 C ( 12 F) every night and warming up to -4 ( 24 F) for the short days. YAY!! Frozen ruts of snow and ice everywhere!! Good thing I have boots rated for -40 C and ice cleats I can put on them.
Those temps will be on the Island where winter is really mild an the lowest temps are about -15 ( 5 F), but the interior of BC, where I used to live and my kids still do...they get -25 to -40 C ( -15 F to -43 F). I’m sooooo glad I’m not living there anymore. I remember winter temps like that. You don’t want to be outside for long, even wrapped up against the cold. Things like noses and ears , fingers and toes freeze quickly and it’s hell getting them warmed up again.
Gotta love winter!
