Central Maine Power / CMP Long Distance Electric Transmission Power Line
CMP Transmission Line Proposal-A Bad Deal for Maine. The proposed, 145-mile-long transmission line corridor, of thousands of high-voltage megatowers, intended to cut through the Maine woods. This would devastate natural resources that are important to the culture and tradition of western Maine. Natural Resources Council Of Maine
CMP's corridor would be as wide as the New Jersey Turnpike, and the towers each as large as the Eastland Hotel in Portland. This corridor would be cut through magnificent, natural, Maine wilderness, to bring electricity, from Canada to Massachusetts, with no stops, in between.
It would negatively impact; the Kennebec Gorge which creates tourism because of its pristine waters used for rafting and recreation, the scenic views of the forest and Appalachian hiking trails, and wildlife habitats from deer to fish. contact@corridorno.com Facebook
CMP’s troubled transmission line project would be a bad deal for Maine and cause irreparable damage to the largest contiguous temperate forest in North America. Sue Ely 01/14/2020, Penobscot Bay Pilot
Contiguous Temperate Forest Images / Temperate Coniferous Forests This type of forest grows in areas where the winters are cool, the summers are warm, and there is enough rainfall for tree survival. Evergreen conifers dominate most of these forests although some of them have a mixture of other kinds of trees. These forests grow wildly in the United States, Asia, Europe, and other places. Some of the vegetation and trees growing in these forests include pine, cedar, Douglas fir, spruce, and juniper.
Stop The Corridor, is a coalition of concerned citizens and organizations worried about the new CMP proposal to build a new High Voltage Direct Current transmission line from the Canadian border in Northwest Maine down to Lewiston.
November 18, 2019 A March poll; from an environmental group opposed to the project found, 65 percent of Mainers disapproved of the corridor.
Critics already have collected tens of thousands of petitions with a goal of pressing for a statewide vote in November 2020. More than 63,000 valid signatures would have to be submitted by Feb. 3 to make the ballot. Opponents have said they have collected roughly half of the 63,000 signatures they must submit to the state to get on the ballot.

And look what a little research pulls up!
I’m psychic. Not. I'm a Sociologist. I just knew these two companies were related (probably, subsidiaries, inc, etc). The original “pyramid scheme.”
Lewiston, Maine (AP) Associated Press 12/9/19-Opponents of Central Maine Power’s proposed $1 billion transmission project that would bring Canadian hydropower to the New England power grid, urged the Army Corps of Engineers to perform a full environmental impact statement. That CMP says, would delay a final decision by a year.
Critics packed a public hearing on the 145-mile power transmission project, which would serve as a conduit for 1,200 MW of electricity from Hydro Quebec.
*I’ve been waiting for them. I found out they were planning to go to Maine and Vermont, when I was researching the Northern Pass Project. A failed plan by these companies to bring their electric corridors to New Hampshire.
The Northern Pass Transmission Project, would have sliced through 192 miles of New Hampshire’s scenic landscapes and communities, is wildly unpopular in the state. Yes, New Hampshire Tourism. No-Northern Pass!
Hydro Quebec and Eversource, failed in New Hampshire. I’d read they are also trying in Maine and Vermont. So doesn’t take a genius to see there’s a relation.
These companies; all, have the same screed too (clean energy and jobs, supposedly).
As with their New Hampshire attempt, they’re hiding behind the local electric/power, company.
*And in Maine; as it was stipulated in New Hampshire and the Northern Pass Project-The state, would be responsible, for the maintenance and upkeep and associated costs for this, controversial $1 billion Central Maine Power Transmission Project (CMP).

Yeah; Right Through The Middle, Of Them!
Central Maine Power has begun its political campaign to build the line, which is awaiting state and federal permits.
Central Maine Power rolled out its first TV ad on Tuesday Nov 12, 2019, a few weeks after launching a political committee called Clean Energy Matters, which is run by the Maine utility and Avangrid, its parent company. That came after corridor backers did $145,000 worth of polling and focus groups.

Kennebec River
The Kennebec River is a 170 mile long (270 km) river within the US state of Maine.
It rises in Moosehead Lake (videos), (images), in west-central Maine.
The East and West Outlets, join at Indian Pond and the river flows southward. past the Harris Station Dam, the largest hydroelectric dam in the state, constructed near that confluence. The river is joined at The Forks by its tributary the West Branch.
Continuing south past Madison, Skowhegan, Waterville, and the state capital Augusta, at Richmond, it flows into Merrymeeting Bay, a 16-mile-long (26 km) freshwater tidal bay into which also flow the Androscoggin River and five smaller rivers.

Don’t worry all you nature lovers, fisherman and water recreational enthusiasts, they’re putting the electric lines, under the river. (Part of it).
Didn’t anyone ever tell these people; that water and electricity, don’t mix?

Writing diaries, is work. I do my research. If you don’t see me around sometimes it’s because I’m resting. Also saving my strength for the 2020 elections.
Still; I cannot stand by and watch them destroy, these beautiful, New England Forests.
I’m from New Jersey. Bayonne, NJ. The former home of Standard Oil.
I also lived in South Jersey, grades 2 through 7.
I’m 70 years old this March. I’ve seen untouched nature and I’ve seen how big energy, can destroy!
