I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus saying hey, both Warren and Sanders are great candidates, and I’d be really happy with either of them winning. In 2016, I was an avid Sanders supporter, and I still really like the guy. I’ve been supportive of Warren’s candidacy for reasons that aren’t anti-Sanders, but are pro-Warren. I like her story. I like the detail in her plans. I like her energy. I think she’s got a spark about her that really speaks to me. And as a native Okie, there’s something of a state pride thing in there as well.
But Bernie is Bernie. Bernie’s a venerable force, a man to admire, who has been in this fight for decades and has always said the right thing about most issues. He’s human, so he gets stuff wrong sometimes — like his questionable positions on gun reform, and his vote for the Afghanistan war — but anyone makes mistakes over decades of service, and the true sign of an intelligent human is the ability to take in new information and change your mind, which Bernie has done.
Hell, Warren was a Republican, and then she took in some new information, and she changed her mind. That’s what humans do, and it’s a quality to admire, not denigrate.
Anyway, I have nothing but respect for Bernie, and if he wins the nomination, I’ll get in there and work my tail off to get him elected.
We’ve got two fantastic candidates, and we need to respect each other enough to realize that both candidates have a compelling argument for their candidacies. I’m going to vote for Warren, but I respect anyone who votes for Bernie, because honestly, you’re not wrong to do so. We should be celebrating the fact that we’ve got such a great bench on the progressive side of the party, not fighting each other over stupid stuff.
I’m not saying anything new here, I’m sure, but I want everyone to hug it out so we can get back to the important work of defeating a fascist bag of fetid offal in a skin suit.
I love you all. Let’s win this thing. For the planet’s sake. Literally.
