I hope — hope — we defeat the man (lunatic) running (ruining) the White House (our country) next November. I will vote for whoever our candidate is. I will work for whoever our candidate is.
I also fear — fear — what might happen between now and then. I’m sorry to say I don’t have as much confidence as I’d like about the outcome of the election that will take place in...yes...less than 10 months. LESS THAN 10 MONTHS, PEOPLE!
But I know — know — that regardless of who wins the presidential race in 10 MONTHS, just as important will be which party has control of the Senate.
Mitch McConnell is the dark underbelly to Donald Trump’s reign of power (terror). The Senate Leader is as rigid as the prez is unhinged, as flat as the prez is histrionic, as opaque as the prez is reflective. But they move in tandem — lacking any moral anchor, any responsibility to the truth or the future of the country or its citizens. Their combined mal-intent toward the Constitution is tantamount to having a pyromaniac and an arsonist in charge of the woodshed.
To save our country they must be stopped. Democrats must retake the Senate.
Colorado Republican Senator Cory Gardner is VULNERABLE.
(For a Reason)
Senator Cory Gardner is a Cardboard Cutout of a Leader
I know about Cory Gardner. I know about John Hickenlooper. I’ve watched them both over their entire careers in Colorado. Up close, to be honest.
In 2008 John Hickenlooper was the mayor of Denver and I was part of the Obama campaign team from Colorado Springs. There was a major health care event in Denver in the late spring and a bunch of us went. There were a few small bands, tables, media, lots of people, and Mayor Hickenlooper spoke to the crowd. He was just a few yards from me, I took some photos — he was just a regular guy. It was such a different time. There was a lot of hope in the air. Summer of 08.
Anyway. Hick did a good job as mayor, and went on to do a great job as governor. He wasn’t in favor (at first) of Colorado being the trailblazer with medical and recreational marijuana, but when the voters chose it, he made it work, and he went to work to make it work well. A lot of parks and schools and youth programs have been the beneficiary, and many states have followed. He’s not the only great democratic candidate running against Gardner, but clearly has the best chance at winning.
During the same time period that I was getting acquainted with Hickenlooper, Gardner’s name was also coming up here and there. Basically, he first appeared as a nobody running for a local race in a red, conservative community where an R behind your name gave you a good shot at whatever office you might have designs on. He was appointed (didn’t win) to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2005 and elected to a full term in 2006. He represented District 63 in the Colorado House through 2011 when he became the U.S. Representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district — Tea Party Time and Obama Hate led to many new and under-qualified folks running around Washington. He was one of them and we have been stuck with him since. Gardner narrowly defeated Democratic incumbent Mark Udall in the 2014 Senate race — a terrible loss for Colorado.
He made a name for himself as Cardboard Cory for never showing up (for over 400 days!) to meet with his constituents. Finally they made and sold cardboard cutouts of him to display at faux town halls so they could get their questions and complaints on the record. I prefer Coward Cory, but Cardboard is probably more relevant:
Just a few days ago, Gardner showed that he is still a master of “The Dodge.”
DENVER — Colorado’s U.S. Senators, Democrat Michael Bennet and Republican Cory Gardner, signed an oath along with their colleagues Thursday to uphold “impartial justice” during President Trump’s impeachment trial.
To approve the addition of new witnesses and the trial rules, 51 senators must agree. Each Senate Democrat and four Senate Republicans would have to vote in favor of issuing subpoenas to witnesses who were blocked from testifying by the White House.
CBS News reported this week that the Trump administration has concerns that Gardner may be among a group of Republican senators who could cross party lines.
Next with Kyle Clark reached out to Gardner’s office for comment. His office did not provide a direct answer.
“I am focused entirely on fulfilling my Constitutional duty as an impartial juror and my responsibility to listen to both sides present their case,” his statement said.
Gardner, who has dodged requests for scheduled interviews, flew from Washington D.C. to Denver on Thursday evening, ahead of the Senate's long weekend. 9NEWS reporter Steve Staeger met the senator when his flight landed at Denver International Airport to ask once more.
“We have a trial. That’s where we’re at right now,” Gardner said of adding witness testimony. “I take my impartiality duty seriously.”

Duck. Duck. Dodge. Duck. Camera? Goose!
That’s Cory. Those are my words — I’ve been watching him very closely. I’ve written him letters, sent him emails, called his office, and it’s all..duck, duck, dodge, duck. Yet somehow his cherub face pops up in the corner of almost every new McConnell and Trump another-nail-in-the-coffin remembrance photo. And I do remember. Colorado remembers.

From a Colorado Kossack:
Also important to note that Gardner has received by most estimates over $4 million of NRA (Russian) money. Also, I was present for a 2014 campaign debate sponsored by the right wing rag Denver Post between Gardner and Udall. Gardner stated with a straight face that because he has a wife and daughters, he understood how important health care and especially reproductive health care is to Americans, and that he would protect our health care. Of course, he then voted every chance that came along to destroy my family’s health insurance coverage, especially for pre-existing conditions.

Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado protects polluters, not Coloradoans. He protects embryos, not women. He talks soft talk, but disappears when it’s time to walk real walk. It’s no surprise that Conservationists in Colorado have nothing good to say about him:
Coloradans know that our clear blue skies, clean water, wild places, and vibrant communities are what make this amazing state so special. Even Senator Cory Gardner promises to protect our natural resources and clean air. Unfortunately, Senator Gardner has repeatedly broken those promises with his votes in Washington D.C.
Time and time again, Senator Gardner has supported big polluters and special interests instead of clean air. His voting record has helped dismantle the Environmental Protection Agency and has made it harder to stop corporations from polluting the air we breathe.
After taking over $1.4 million dollars from Big Oil, it’s no wonder that Senator Gardner has voted six times to block limits on carbon pollution, seven times to protect billions in subsidies for fossil fuels, and seven times to undermine scientific reviews.

On women’s healthcare — in Colorado Gardner has been a very scary guy. Like many of his ilk, he cares more for embryos (is it an embryo at 24 hours?) than he does women and children:
In 2006 Gardner opposed legislation to allow pharmacists to prescribe emergency contraception,[33] and offered an amendment to the budget to prohibit the state Medicaid plan from purchasing Plan B emergency contraception.[34] In 2007 he voted against a bill requiring hospitals to inform survivors of a sexual assault of the availability of emergency contraception.[35][36]
In 2012-13 Gardner co-sponsored personhood legislation titled the "Life Begins at Conception Act".[37] Gardner later said that he changed his mind on personhood after listening to voters.[38] According to The Denver Post, "Gardner conceded that with his new position on personhood, he might be accused of flip-flopping simply to make himself more palatable to statewide voters."[39] The nonpartisan Factcheck.org said "It would be clearer to say that Gardner supports efforts to ban abortion that could also ban some forms of birth control. As for his change of position, voters in Colorado should know Gardner still supports a federal bill that would prompt the same concerns over birth control as the state measure he says he rejects on the same grounds."[40]
In June 2014 Gardner called for over-the-counter access to oral contraceptives and said the birth control pill would be safer and cheaper if it was available over the counter.[41] He ran for Senate in 2014 as a pro-life Republican.[42] He has consistently voted to defund Planned Parenthood and in January 2018 voted in favor of a 20-week abortion ban.[43]

Cory Gardner is ripe for picking and throwing into the basket of rotten fruit. When it comes to standing up to this president he hems and haws but then votes with him (according to political data) approximately 90% of the time.
Cory Gardner Must Go!
VOTE to defeat him if you can!
CONTRIBUTE to defeat him if you can’t!
Help flip the Senate in 2020 by making a donation to the future Democratic opponent of Colorado Republican Cory Gardner. This Trump lackey is no more than a rubber stamp for Trump's awful agenda: blocking election security legislation, restricting birth control, voting against health care for millions, and supporting the GOP tax scam. Taking back the Senate next year starts with this seat. Send a message it's time to vote Cory Gardner out.
Just to be clear, funds raised through this page will be held in escrow and made available to the Democratic nominee once they win their primary.
This means every donation will go directly toward defeating Cory Gardner in his 2020 reelection bid. Every dollar counts!

We would love to hear about your down-ballot-related idea, in the comments below or kosmailed to the group! Would you like to write about a challenger taking on a Republican-held or red-leaning seat? How about our embattled incumbents, many of whom have been targeted by dark money and other nasty attacks? Or do you have another down-ballot-related idea? This is a way to make a difference!

DKHIVE Group Guidelines
The DKHive Community group has been created by former Kamala2020 Group members to positively support efforts to re-take the Senate and keep Democratic control of the House of Representatives.
We will support candidates supported by Senator Harris as well as other candidates, especially women, POC, and down-ballot democrats in local races.
All should be made to feel welcome here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
We’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Democratic control of the Senate and House, that we not respond to negativity from other campaigns’ supporters with even more negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, humor or try to hold our peace.

If you would like to join our group, please ask for an invitation in the comments, and one will be KosMailed to you.
Our members will largely share in writing diaries, in much the same fashion as we did with the Kamala2020 group — all voices are welcome. We hope to continue with regular 2 or 3 x weekly diaries, although we will vary the publish times of the diaries throughout the week. Suggestions on this are welcome! Sign-ups will begin immediately!
