If you’re in South Florida and you’re wondering what that was about an hour ago (2PM Eastern Time), yes, that was an earthquake, a large one.
The quake was strongly and widely felt across Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, and very likely Cuba.
A tsunami has been reported in the Cayman Islands, of 0.1 meters. Not large, but waves up to a meter high are possible and this can still be damaging. If anyone felt the quake, and is on the beach, maybe find something else to do for the afternoon away from the water.
I’ll update the diary as more info comes in.

There is no tsunami threat to the US, and as the afternoon goes on, it will lessen for the Caribbean.
The earthquake appears to have been strongly felt across Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Not many reports from Cuba, but likely strongly felt there as well. It was perceptibly felt in much of Florida. No reports of damage yet.
