It’s truly a day of dread, and everyone knows it. It should not, however, be a surprise to anyone. We knew what was going to happen in the Senate weeks before it ever began. Hell, one could say we knew months in advance. McConnell told us exactly what was going to happen — why in the hell would anyone believe otherwise?
The one thought that has most certainly not given me any peace, but has truly given me clarity for the last 3 years is this: Donald Trump is a symptom of the modern day GOP, not an anomaly. All of the corruption, all of the fear, hatred, bigotry, racism, religious zealotry, nationalism, selfish I got mine screw you beliefs that have been embedded in Conservative ideology for decades has accumulated and risen up to the top, and has given us the absolute piece of shit, malignant narcissist sociopath that we have in the White House today. It has reared it’s ugly head after an intelligent, incorruptible Black President moved our country forward, and the fear of a female with the last name of Clinton whom won the popular vote scared the living shit out of their dipshit GOP constituents of a future they could not possibly fathom any further.
So if you want to know why the fix was in long ago, it’s because Trump is a symptom of the GOP. Trump is the GOP, and they are him. From this standpoint, all of the actions of the GOP Congressional members and media mouthpiece blowhards make perfect sense.
We have work to do. GOTV.
