I have been experimenting with my and Hayseed’s video files. We have older equipment but are willing to learn and try new things. Using a number of devices and software, we have compiled a few items to share. Here we go.
Hayseed set up a Trail camera on a tree overlooking a small pond that he had constructed on his property. While in night vision mode, a Barn Owl was videoed hunting. The original video was two minutes long. This is the finished product after editing, downloading to “Youtube”, capturing the video and posting on this diary.
Here is one of mine. A different camera but using the same techniques as the video above
Here is another of HaySeed’s videos. This is a deer getting stung on the nose by an insect. This is the same camera used in the first video but on daylight settings.
Here is a quick (5 seconds) video of a Juvenile Cardinal. This shows the unusual color variation of the species while molting. This, again, is from Hayseed’s game camera.
I was able to perform a “grab screen” photo from within this short video. With that image, I was able to insert it into a “Word Document” and change the size. I then inserted another image next to it on the document (page) and change the size (where they will both appear in one photo capture). Here is that image when finished.
The Cardinal on the left is a juvenile male that is molting. The right is an adult male that also is molting. The grey haze of the feathers of both birds is the indicator.
I didn’t even have a teenager show me how to do this. I feel I have a better way to express information to those that are interested. As fun as this has been, I am not giving up my day job.
I believe these new techniques will change the way I record and present the birds I encounter. That is a thrilling concept that I plan to share with you. My thanks to Hayseed for the use of his videos and his excitement about this project. Until then, I’m glad you stopped by.
