A senate poll (pdf) for Arkansas came out today. It’s the only one listed at 538. It’s... surprising.
To recap: the incumbent Senator, Republican extremist and horrible human Tom Cotton, is running with no Democratic opposition. There was a Democratic candidate, who dropped out days after the deadline to register candidates (I won’t get into that), meaning Cotton is \running without significant opposition.
However, he does have an opposition: Ricky Dale Harrington, Jr., running under the Libertarian ticket. Harrington, a young African-American missionary, has never held political office before, nor had any experience in government. His positions, from what I can tell, are honestly humane. His website is here.
Well, this new poll shows Cotton leading by a mere 11 points, 49-38, with 13% undecided. I find this remarkable, considering that a) this is one of the redder states, b) that Cotton has the experience and the Republican money, and c) that Harrington has neither. I can hardly hope for Harrington winning, but I can quite imagine the gap tightening, especially if there is high AA turnout, or if the likely voter screen in the survey is skewed Republican. A June survey of likely voters showed Biden and DJT running neck and neck, so who knows what will happen.
In the meantime, take a look at Harrington.
