I am scared to wake up on Nov. 4. Scared that Trump will steal another election. For 4 years I’ve been scared that he’ll declare martial law and Republicans will do nothing to stop it. Another term means 4 more years for him to do that. I’m also scared that, if Biden does win, that Trump has some stunt up his sleave that we will all pay for. Every time I see a Trump sign, or someone wearing something with his name on it, it makes me angry. I cannot believe how people can fall under his spell.
I’m sure I’m not alone.
But what I don’t understand is, why are we not using the biggest tool we have to fight? The Internet. Sure, there are sites like this one, there are people blogging, there are people asking for donations, and so on. But I don’t think anyone realizes what, in my humble opinion, is a key to how people choose to mark their ballot. The key is that people have short term memory.
It seams to me people get so caught up in what’s going on at the moment that they forget what happened a year or 2 before. This isn’t just with presidential elections. I’ve seen it happen at the local level. For example, suppose a state’s government had to shut down because one side in the legislature refused to work out the budget. As a result, voters in the state are inconvenienced, and angry because they cannot get the government services they need. But when the next election cycle comes up, which could be 2 years later, they’ve completely forgotten what happened and they don’t vote out those people who were responsible for their aggravation.
People need to be reminded.
For the last 4 years we have seen and heard Trump saying, or tweeting, or doing things that are harming this country. Voters need to be reminded. Over… and over… and over. They need to hear those things that have angered them again so in a few weeks they think carefully about their choice.
I am afraid Internet websites, and blogs, and things are not going to do it. Isn’t there someone out there who is tech savvy enough to put together a video that will go viral? Something that gets voters to see Trump’s true nature again and again. Something that will pull together all of the awful things he has done in a few short videos that will send voters to the polls angry enough to oust him.
That, I believe, is the way we need to use the Internet to get our country back before it is too late.
