The New York Times is ending home delivery of its daily paper in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. It has declared that Milwaukee and Wisconsin is a flyover state and will only drop its physical paper on Sundays going forward. In speaking with a New York Times representative she did not know if the suspension of home delivery would also mean a similar suspension to retailers that carry the daily paper.
Being a transplant from southwestern Connecticut and non digital subscriber in general this suspension really hurts. I would expect that Wisconsin will not be alone in this trend by the New York Times. What I do know is that the right wing Wall Street Journal will still be delivered each morning and other than it’s editorial page its reporting is far better than the New York Times. This action by the Times will only reinforce this perception.
Here we are heading into the most important election in our lifetime and the New York Times decides to cut off its Wisconsin subscribers from any coverage of the campaign or analysis of the results.
