Trump, who has gone off the rails psychologically, may now be standing on the tracks and pissing on the third rail by attacking Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Trump loves to make the news. He sure managed to grab the headlines by disparaging someone who has earned the title of America’s doctor.

Of course you are all following Trump’s desperation as he attacks Dr. Fauci who he obviously despises because he has dared to contradict him, and of course because he is is far more popular, far more trusted, and if he dares admit it to himself, far more intelligent, and especially hurtful for a preening narcissist, much better looking than he is.
You can bet Trump would dearly like to fire him, which he can only do from the task force which would be like firing him from being on the White House Snipe Hunting Task Force. He can’t fire him from his NIH position without just cause, and Trump doesn’t determine what constitutes just cause, i.e. “malfeasance, neglect of office, or incapacity.” That has to burn Trump’s ample butt.
Most of these images will be familiar to you but I thought putting them in a collage would covey just what their relationship has developed into. (Click to enlarge)
I have to say that this is the time when Trump’s narcissistic personality disorder works in our favor.
He really thinks he is so beloved by a crowd of people that he wouldn’t even hire to mow the lawn at his golf courses that he thinks he can get away with attacking Dr. Fauci who all but the most brainwashed and brain dead members of his cult hold in high esteem.
They will cheer anything Trump says. They swallow hook, line and sinker all of his outright lies, some of which, if he believes them suggest he is clinically delusional See Fact-checking Trump's dishonest weekend: The President made at least 66 false or misleading claims in three days. Far worse is that they internalize, magnify, and may act on his hate.

The hate Trump fosters has put the Governor of Michigan and the Mayor of Wichita in fear for their lives. Doctor Fauci is now protected by federal agents thanks to Trump in effect putting out a hit on him.
Here’s what Dr. Fauci said on “60 Minutes” on Sunday:
Once an avid runner, at 79, Dr. Fauci now power walks, flanked by federal agents.
Dr. Jon LaPook: What's that all about?
Dr. Anthony Fauci: That's sad. The very fact that a public health message to save lives triggers such venom and animosity to me that it results in real and credible threats to my life and my safety. But it bothers me less than the hassling of my wife and my children.
Dr. Jon LaPook: They've been threatened?
Dr. Anthony Fauci: Yes. I mean, like, give me a break.
Dr. Jon LaPook: Have there been death threats against...
Dr. Anthony Fauci: Yes.
Dr. Jon LaPook: ...you and your family?
Dr. Anthony Fauci: Yes.
Dr. Jon LaPook: All of you?
Dr. Anthony Fauci: No, just me.
Dr. Christine Grady: Mostly him.
Dr. Anthony Fauci: Mostly me. But hassling.
Dr. Christine Grady: Harassment against all of us.
Dr. Anthony Fauci: Against the rest of the family.
The people shown in the rally photos and their brethren will cheer anything Trump says. They swallow hook, line and sinker all of his outright lies, some of which, if he believes them suggest he is clinically delusional. Read Fact-checking Trump's dishonest weekend: The President made at least 66 false or misleading claims in three days. Some of these are so beyond the pale that they defy credulity, for example at one rally saying "did you see they found 50,000 ballots in like a river?" At a subsequent rally the number went up ten-fold: After he baselessly alleged in Georgia that ballots were found in a river, Trump said, "They find 'em -- I think 500,000 ballots in Virginia."
Trump is a sadist. You can see in his evil smile how he relishes leading his minions in their lock him, them, or her up chants and when he (the head of his own crime family) calls the entire Biden family criminals which leads to more bloodthirsty lock them up chants.
All this may prove too much for Republicans who, like Ben Sasse and a few others, as described in HuffPost “Are Suddenly Trying To Distance Themselves From Donald Trump”.
The final straw for some of them could be Trump’s attacks on Dr. Anthony Fauci. Those who are running for the Senate in states where Covid case are spiking may want to look for the closest lifeboat to get off the Trump ship.
Others in safe seats may actually realize that they can’t live with themselves by being Trump enablers when it become indisputable that he is evil incarnate. I know, we’ve all become cynics, but it is possible if not likely.
They may want to tale a close look at the Trump ship and see that it has become a rust bucket contaminated by hate which is heading for an ignominious end. It should Rest In Peace in the briny deep. Salt water is a good disinfectant.
