Portland Public Schools are, apparently, going to wait till February to do in-person classes. I can deal with this.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

A green puppy has been born in Italy.
There seems to have been an alternative to ancient Egypt’s Book of the Dead. The First Book of Breathing (at the head of the body) and The Second Book of Breathing (at the feet).
This is all that caught my attention this week. Most of the news is about you know what and the archaeological sites I check don’t have much that I haven’t already linked to.

I’ve been wearing the sweaters that arrived week before last. I bought them a size smaller than I ordinarily would have because they were closer to sweatshirts than anything else. This turned out to be a good thing, since the usual size I get would have been big enough for me to do the backstroke inside it; and I am NOT small.
On Tuesday, my firstborn had an outpatient procedure done. This is definitely a sign that the coronavirus test was negative. Good news for everybody, since she deals with by far the most people among the lot of us.
I also got a couple of packages on Tuesday that I wasn’t sure were going to arrive before next week. One of them was the t-shirt I succumbed to with the Venn diagram where the overlap of reality and magic is physics. Who, me? Weird? What makes you think that?
Wednesday was payoff day for the second of my credit cards. On Monday, I changed the payment option for one of my upcoming annual renewals so I wouldn’t end up with a new charge on the one that was paid off a month or so back. Come the end of this next week, I start throwing money at the card I actually use.
Last week, one of my college friends shared something on Facebook — a challenge to come up with something one of the FB friends would never have done (my friend’s answer was that Lily Tomlin had kissed him — he worked for a while as a page at CBS, so I have no difficulty believing this — he’s charming even if you know him). After a day or two, I posted that I had met Anthony Fauci. A couple of days later, I checked my Facebook and there was a response from somebody (not my friend): “You win”.
Yesterday my friend posted a story about how a little old lady from somewhere in Eastern Europe had knocked on his door a fair number of years back, and he hadn’t understood a word she said, but had some ideas of how to help her. His ideas worked, and he found somebody who could talk to her and he ended up driving her to the offices of the organization that found him the translator — the people there were apparently amazed that he would go so far out of his way to help a total stranger, but they had found her family she had got lost trying to visit and the relatives were coming to get her. And what sort of help had anyone reading given somebody who would never be able to repay them? Me, I’ve wandered seeming oblivious between many a woman and the person or persons harassing her long enough for her to get away — it’s a trick that works beautifully at corners with walk lights.
Thursday I went for my morning walk again. My blisters had healed enough for nearly two miles. No, I didn’t wear my new boots — I think I will try them again when November rolls around.
I saw my chiropractor on Saturday. It was the right side giving me fits this time. And my chiropractor thinks it’s funny that I still haven’t found a route around my neighborhood that works out to three miles. Also, how did her son get old enough to be a senior in high school? Since the only answer I could think of was “one day at a time”, I kept my mouth shut.
During the grocery shopping part of my Saturday outing, I bought Cornish game hens to use for Thanksgiving. My daughter said that sounded good to her. I wonder if my grandson will decide he wants meatloaf again. Next week I will probably order the duck for Christmas.
Two packages arrived on Saturday. A cardigan ordered from Hammacher Schlemmer — I decided I didn’t want to resist alpaca wool in burgundy — and some supplements ordered from Amazon since that’s the only place I’ve been able to find them.

Love you guys!
