Today, I learned that the songwriter and performer Michael Peter Smith had passed away last August. His most famous song was called The Dutchman, which was recorded by many folk music performers. One of his claims to fame was for writing the music for the Steppenwolf Theater’s production of The Grapes of Wrath, which eventually earned a Tony Award for Best Play. I thought it would be appropriate to post some of his songs.
