Hello, Friends on Team Blue—I have a bit of an anecdotal story on the election from the great state of Ohio. My wife and I live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. Today we drove down Route 33 to Hocking Hills for some hiking. The farther south you go, the more rural you get, fast. This is republican country, for sure. When you turn off Route 33, you exit onto state route 664, very winding, narrow, and hilly, and very beautiful. Just for a lark, I thought I’d count the yard signs for Biden and Trump for the 12 miles or so on this road before entering Hocking Hills. I’d bet dollars to donuts that in 2016 you’d be struggling to find more than two Hillary signs, maybe not that many. Today, my wife and I counted 7 Trump signs and 6 Biden signs. If Trump doesn’t win rural Ohio 70%-30% or 75%-25%, he’s got no chance to win Ohio. If this is any indication, he’s losing Ohio. He’s completely lost the suburbs, as I’ve written before. If he’s leaking support from his rural base, it’s all over. I sure hope I’m right.
