Cat 1 is Very dangerous winds that produce some damage: Well-constructed frame homes could have damage to roof, shingles, vinyl siding and gutters. Large branches of trees will snap and shallowly rooted trees may be toppled. Extensive damage to power lines and poles likely will result in power outages that could last a few to several days.
Although Delta is moving farther inland, strong winds continue along the coast of southwestern Louisiana. Calcasieu Pass reported a sustained wind of 70 mph (113 km/h) and a gust to 86 mph (138 km/h) during the past hour. New Iberia reported a sustained wind of 58 mph (93 km/h) and a gust to 86 mph (138 km/h) within the past hour.
