The following is an opinion . . .
The Republican Party is dead. Republicans who are not in a trance state understand this and have already left the party. Kudos to the Lincoln Project and the saner heads in the former Republican Party, like Jennifer Rubin in the Washington Post, for all their brilliant work helping to convince conservatives who still have principle to vote for Joe Biden. He won by over five million votes with no election fraud to be found.
The problem is, the Republican leadership from the RNC through the ranks of elected officials, are openly trying to undermine the foundation of a free society—the right to pick a government by voting for who you want to lead the country. No more “We the People”, no more belief in the sanctity of our election process (unless they win) that for over two centuries has been the finest example of power flowing from the bottom up. From the people to a government of the people elected by the people.
How traitorous that Republican Senators and Congressmen, now proud members of the Anti-Democracy Party, no longer subscribe to the great American experiment. That these American duly elected legislators who swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution having been elected by the people, care not a whit what the people have voted for—namely a new president who is neither a psychopath nor a criminal.
Just as disturbing, over seventy million Americans voted to continue the single most corrupt presidency in my lifetime. A kleptocracy of epic proportions. A government riddled with nepotism, fraud, criminal obstruction, secrecy and complete and utter incompetence. A government run by yes men and grifters.
And why is this? Why do seventy million people choose to ignore reality and vote to maintain the status quo? Because they are fed a line of crap every single day they turn on their television and get another dose of make-believe by Trump whining about one conspiracy or another; log onto Facebook and read more made up crap; tune into Rush Limbaugh or the myriad other sources of conspiracy and get more doses of crap. Because the Republican Party apparatus, the party leadership along with Fox News and their primetime lineup of multi-millionaire entertainers tell them every single night to hate the seventy-five million Americans who are not in a trance.
If you get your news and form your opinions by listening to a steady diet of hateful incendiary crap you slowly lose the capacity to think for yourself or accept a fact based reality. Some call it politics. I call it a full throated attack on America by Americans who know better, but do it anyway for the money.
In the real world Joe Biden is the forty-sixth duly elected President of the United States assuming we survive this organized effort by the Anti-Democracy Party to turn America into a one party mafia state.
