SHE’S MY BABY
So Tonight That I Might See is the second album by Santa Monica’s Mazzy Star. The group officially formed in 1990 but had evolved out of David Roback’s previous group Opal. When Kendra Smith (ex-Dream Syndicate) left Opal, Hope Sandoval joined as the singer. A name change to Mazzy Star shortly followed. While Opal was psychedelic and droney, Mazzy Star has a hypnotic, dreamy, somewhat bluesy sound (it’s the slide guitar).

‘Fade Into You’ (1993)
.
‘Fade Into You’ was “the hit” from the album. It has appeared in numerous movies and television shows. A quick YouTube search shows that it’s also a popular song for other groups to cover.
.
‘Bells Ring’ (1993)
.
While Mazzy Star never officially split, the group was on hiatus from 1997 to 2013. Hope Sandoval continued to release music during Mazzy Star’s hiatus with her group Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions although it’s been several years since they’ve released new material. When David Roback passed away in February of this year the group effectively ended. This next song is my fav. on the album.
