No shit Sherlock! — Charles Koch is fishing for a do-over of his life’s work — The Wall Street Journal (paywall)
Wichita billionaire and GOP mega-donor Charles Koch says his partisanship was a mistake, telling The Wall Street Journal that he believes it caused unneeded division.
Well isn’t that special…
The Kansas City Star
“I congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their victory,” Koch told the Wall Street Journal in an email. “I look forward to finding ways to work with them to break down the barriers holding people back, whether in the economy, criminal justice, immigration, the COVID-19 pandemic, or anywhere else.”
Koch, who heads Koch Industries and is one of the 25 richest people in the world, according to Forbes, told the paper he is attempting to work with Democrats, saying he feels there is common ground on issues like criminal justice reform and immigration.
Regardless, his spending habits didn’t appear to change much this year. The Wall Street Journal, citing Center for Responsive Politics data, said Koch’s PAC donated $2.8 million to Republican candidates compared to $221,000 for Democrats during the 2020 election cycle.
He wants to be all lovey dovey and build bridges now! As if we’d buy that bullshit...

Koch and his brother David, who died last year, were major players in the rise and shaping of the tea party. The brothers founded the conservative organization Americans for Prosperity in 2004.
In her 2015 book "Dark Money," the New Yorker writer Jane Mayer tracked how they used their fortunes to amass political influence and further a libertarian agenda.
"We did not create the tea party. We shared their concern about unsustainable government spending, and we supported some tea-party groups on that issue," Koch wrote in an email to Belkin. "But it seems to me the tea party was largely unsuccessful long-term, given that we're coming off a Republican administration with the largest government spending in history."
It’s just a complete coincidence that he’s trying to sell a new book coming out soon.

I don’t think Chuckles here is turning over a new leaf any more than I believe my laundry detergent has been new and improved every time I’ve bought it over the past 40 years. If anything it’s my guess this whole book deal with it’s media attention is to give him a platform to repackage his same old schtick. I think he’s setting us up so he can get on all the pundit shows to tell us how the federal deficit and the national debt are more important than they ever were, and anybody who disagrees is anti-American, knows nothing about money, and wants to destroy this country.
