Speculation By Hal Brown
I think there’s a way out for Trump which is consistent with his personality, or more aptly put, his combination of personality disorders, and which stands a reasonable chance of happening. It is summarized in my title. I expect this will happen within the next two week or when all avenues to overturn the election have failed.
I do not think Trump will concede.
He will not attend the swearing in of Joe Biden claiming that this would validate a fraudulent election and recognize a fake president.
He will say that it was a vast criminal conspiracy of the deep state, anti-Trump Republicans, and corrupt Democrats who got Biden elected.
Having exhausted court challenges, he will make an announcement that he has reluctantly and finally had to accept that he can’t legally stop Biden from becoming president because of the corrupt court system.
He will say that Biden will be president in name only.
He will try to get the name fake president Biden, or more insulting just “the fake president” to stick.
He will keep repeating that in the election the reality was that he beat Biden in a landslide using the tried and effective propaganda technique of repeating a lie so often people begin to believe it despite evidence to the contrary.
Then with a great fanfare will come the coup de théâtre.
He will triumphantly and defiantly declare his candidacy for president in 2024. I lean towards thinking he will do this within weeks of Jan.20th. (What do you think? Take the poll.)
To avoid leaving the White House as a former president he will depart Washington for Mar a Lago a day or two or perhaps longer before January 20th. Then he can take off from the White House lawn in Marine One and use Air Force One.
Once he lands in Florida a huge crowd will have been organized to greet him providing him with an opportunity to make yet another speech.
He will do this to a packed cheering maskless crowd. He will deliver a barn burner of a speech about saving the county and about his job is now thwarting Biden’s attempts to the United States, which he made great again, into a crime ridden socialist hellhole where good people are afraid to walk the streets of their neighborhoods even in broad daylight.
He could take one of two approaches to handling the rage which will be seething among his hard core supporters. He might just let it play itself, encouraging it with his rhetorical, and out taking pleasure in watching street violence erupt across the country and blaming it all on Antifa.
On the other hand, in what would be a rare departure for him, he might then put aside the inflammatory language and dog whistles directed at inciting his base. He would do this if he had been convinced it would be bad optics for Republican members of Congress to have pro-Trump gun totting rioters and alt-right groups threatening to take a civil war to the streets. Someone may have persuaded him that nearly all of the violence would be coming from his supporters and a dozen more Kyle Ritenhouse incidents would look not be good for him.
If he went with the later approach, he’d shift tone and urge his supporters to mobilize without violence to assure he is elected in 2024 by donating money and making sure they are ready to watch the polls in every election to prevent cheating.
Depending on how good his speechwriter or writers are he may mouth words about accepting the transfer of governmental functioning temporarily to the Biden administration citing the various needs for continuity of government which his hard core base can agree on in terms they can accept, especially about coordinating Covid vaccinations. He certainly wants Biden to fail in reversing his MAGA legacy but he doesn't want to have the blame for a disastrous roll-out of vaccination blamed on him.
With the specter of Trump running for president again he will maintain control of Congressional Republicans because he will be seen as having powerful coattails when they have to run again in for 2022 or 2024. He will cement his role as the head of the Republican Party demanding fealty from each and every Republican from U.S. Senators to the lowest level elected officials in the country.
Trump needs a huge infusion of cash both to pay off debts, deal with legal expenses, and and of course to fund his 2024 campaign. To do this he has to do his make sure that he draws huge rally crowds, possibly willing to pony up some cash to get in, so he maintain the myth that the size of a rally crowd proves that he has more support than Biden for 2024. If large GOP contributors think he will win their donations will role in. He can also have a book ghost-written for him, sell more expensive mechanize, and come up with more ways to grift his supporters.
