In 2019 John Kerry was awarded and accepted the Arctic Circle Prize in a speech to an assembly of climate scientists and other Arctic stakeholders in Reykjavik, Iceland.
In his dramatic speech, Secretary Kerry, who has been nominated by President-Elect Joe Biden, to be the first ‘Climate Tsar’ in a cabinet-level position, declared war on climate change deniers and their enablers.
The principals of the World War Zero organization were quite active in the 2020 elections. Kerry described a coalition of the “top roots and the grassroots’ that will take on the well-funded fossil fuel industry and their bought and paid for representatives in the house and senate. Attendees broke out in raucous cheers in appreciation.
The great ice sheets of the Arctic and Antarctica are part of nine tipping points that are now active. All of these have a cascading effect on the biosphere and will cull most species from the earth, including humans, that is just another mammal unlikely to survive hothouse earth.
There is no do-over on climate; action was needed yesterday. Hoorah, Secretary Kerry, the world needs a hero and we will do our best to have your back.
From The Barents Observer:
John Kerry (75) gave a stern warning about demagoguery and denial of the climate crisis and the lack of political leadership. As Secretary of State under the Obama administration, Kerry was key to the landmark Paris Climate Agreement, an accord current president Donald Trump is working hard to dismantle.
John Kerry’s speech at the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik this weekend was followed by loud and long lasting applause from the audience of Arctic stakeholders from around the globe.
The fast-escalating climate crisis has never been worded in such dramatic tone as at this year’s assembly in the Icelandic capital.
Scientist after scientist entered the stage with facts and scenarios, which in sum painted a picture of a word heading towards Ragnarök, the old Nordic mythology’s destruction of the world.
We are moving towards the tipping points of the Greenland Ice Sheet and the Atlantic Ocean circulation. The permafrost in the circumpolar north is about to melt, likely to cause even greater releases of methane. While CO2 is described as having a warming effect akin to wrapping the planet in a sheet, methane released from the Arctic permafrost is more like wrapping the planet in a wool blanket.
I loathe climate deniers, enablers, and delayers, particularly those in leadership that mislead the public to the detriment of us all. They should be sent to the Haque for trial for crimes against humanity.
I have embedded the full speech by John Kerry as well as some highlight clips. If John Kerry can deliver as he did in Reykjavik, legitimate progress on the political front can be implemented.
Climate scientists, climate activists, and climate voters take a well-deserved bow for organizing a grassroots movement to end Trump's tyranny.
Sadly, these videos had hardly any views. That is the MSM's fault for not reporting the scale of the problem that this crisis deserves. Shame on them.
Still in the fight.
The full speech.
