Factoids to share/ponder during your wait at the polls:
1. Since 1920 Democratic Administrations Helped Grow over 85 Million Jobs. Republican Presidents/Policies only created just over 29 Million Jobs. Here’s the comparison chart.
2. From 1940 on, you can check this out for yourself by going to:
data.bls.gov/…
For earlier years and a look at each administration’s job creation, go to:
en.m.wikipedia.org/…
At the BLS.gov site you can look at the spreadsheets and charts of US job growth for any period from 1940 on.
Hint:: Compare the chart for Obama/Biden’s last term from 2013-2016 with the chart for Trump’s term from 2017-2020.
data.bls.gov/…
You’ll see how Trump’s early jobs success was completely dependent on the strong and growing economy Obama handed him...and how profoundly Trump’s bungled Covid-19 response tanked the jobs market.
Equally impressive results will be produced by comparing:
Bush’s Fiscal Years 2002-2009 to Obama/Biden’s Fiscal years of 2010-2017
AND Reagan/Bush years of 1981-1992 to Clinton’s years of 1993-2000.
(To be fairer, it’s a little more even, if you compare Reagan/Bush and Clinton’s Fiscal Years.) That’s 1982-1993 for Reagan/Bush and 1994-2001 for Clinton—since the Dot Com wreck happened in Clinton’s last Fiscal Year.
Fiscal years offer a clearer picture of a President’s effect, because a president’s first year job creation success is strongly determined by his predecessor’s success or failure and by the Federal Budget enacted during the end of the previous term.
There! That should get you through an hour of wait time and a couple interesting discussions with your neighbors.
(Social distancing hint: Email or text them the links, and then they’ll have something very educational to do while they stand in line, too!)
