Yes! Michigan.
I’m fired up and ready to fight. Did we win the Senate? Probably not. Did we get rid of the screeching orange howler monkey who throws poo non-stop? Probably.
I’m fired up because:
- I’m on a mission to get rid of every polling organization in the country. I’m hopping mad at pollsters right now. Fool me once… I believed them again! Dammit! “We’re ahead in the polls”, “its a consistent lead”, “we fixed them from 2016”. I’m maddest at the pollsters for getting it so wrong again. Yes we should have listened to Selzer and Trafalgar, but the majority of pollster went into herd mentality mode. AGAIN!
- There are millions of people who Trump has been shitting on for four years who need us NOT to give up. Should we give up on African Americans facing police brutality? Should we give up on Dreamers? Should we give up on rural people whose jobs never came back? Should we give up on COVID? Hell no!
- We need to build a better Democratic Party. We need to figure out why Latinx voters slipped. We need to do a far better job at getting core message out. We need a better digital presence. And most urgently we need to have a fully-fledged, in-house version the Lincoln Project for the next election.
- We need to relentlessly prosecute Trumps crimes, both those he committed while in office and those trailing him from his business practices, such as the New York AG’s cases. Prosecute, prosecute, prosecute. If we don’t, the next Trump-ler will know they can get away with it.
- We need to keep hammering at the edges — continue the hard work that got us further than we thought in Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Arizona so that we have an even better chance of winning there next time. Party infrastructure in the south has to be on the radar given the changing demographics of the country and the increasing unreliability of the old blue wall. We may not eek out WI and MI the next time.
- I’m ready to fight to end voter suppression in any and all of its forms, from gerrymandering, to voter restrictions, to voter intimidation, to voter misinformation.
- We need to figure out how to physically detach Florida and let it float away.
The rounds of despair and exhaustion are completely understandable and completely human and no one need apologize or feel as they have to defend their feelings. For me, however, I’m ready to fight. I’m angrier than ever at Trump voters, and I’m ready for the fight. I still can’t believe they looked at the last four years and said “yeah, we’re okay with all that”. We’re a whisper away of getting that orange asshat out of the White House and out of my face. I’m ready to keep fighting to make sure neither he nor anyone else like him is ever imposed on me again.
