The last 24 hours have been quite the emotional wringer. I’m relieved that it’s looking good for Biden and Harris, and pulling my hair out waiting to hear about the Senate. I’m getting flashbacks of the utter confusion of Bush v Gore in 2000, the emotional slap of W. Bush’s re-election in 2004, and the joy of Obama’s election in 2008 struggling against the horror of Prop H8 against marriage equality in my home state. And I hope I never, never relive the gut punch that was 2016. I’d signed up to host Top Comments the day after that election, too — you’d think I’d learn.
But first, a word from our sponsor!
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. Please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-), so we can credit you with the find!
We have a lot of work to do in the coming days, so I just want to take a moment, breathe, and realize: despite the Electoral College being stacked against us, despite the Fox/Facebook juggernaut, despite barely-veiled threats of violence (which, fortunately, turned out to be just threats), we beat the most corrupt scumbag ever to inhabit the White House. So here’s a special message to *resident *rump and his enablers:
