Regardless of the outcome in Georgia, and after the Senate Runoffs in January, the Democratic National Committee should name Stacey Abrams as Chairperson of the DNC. This is a no brainer. We are going to have to do nationwide what she has been able to do for the State of Georgia. And Black women, more then Hispanics, more than Black Men, are the key voting block for Democrats.
I also think that regardless of whether it is Minority or Majority leader Schumer needs to go. I think Corey Booker would be an excellent leader for the Senate Democrats. He is young, dynamic and eloquent.
Despite losing House Seats this year I would not give up on Pelosi. She did a great job in 2018. In all joint appearances Pelosi was far superior and more compelling then Schumer.
I have serious doubts about whether we can pick up either Senate seat in the runoff. It will be an all or none scenario because I do not think too many Georgians will split their vote and elect one Republican and one Democrat. And if you add the votes that the two Republican Candidates got they took 50% of the vote so you would need for Warnock to pull off a lot of votes from Collins which I do not foresee.
The next two years are going to be extremely difficult if we lose those Senate seats in the runoff because the Republicans are going to maintain the same game plan they did under Obama. They will block all of his liberal to moderate judicial appointments and those bills languishing on McConnell’s desk will continue to languish. Whatever money is left in the political coffers need to be funneled to Georgia. Let’s hope we can pull off the miracle and take both seats.
That said I think 2022 can break with tradition and see a big swing toward Democrats, the party in power in the executive, especially if SCOTUS overturns the ACA and ROE as expected. If Biden gets the Pandemic under control, the economy growing in the next two years then it could be a good election for the Democrats.
