That’s the ballgame, folks. Joe Biden’s projected win in Pennsylvania puts him over 270 electoral votes. There are still potential state wins on the table, but he does not need them.
Republicans did everything they could to suppress the vote and muddle the results in Pennsylvania, and the count felt endless after Trump jumped out to an early lead in the votes counted, while the mail ballots in heavily Democratic areas trickled in more slowly. That trickle inexorably cut down Trump’s lead, though, bringing a Biden win gradually into sight.
As we all remember so well, Donald Trump’s razor-thin win in Pennsylvania was part of what put him over the top in 2016, and he needed its 20 electoral votes this time around, too, just to keep any chance of winning alive. How sad for him.
