Hurray!! Good won, Evil lost…Now let’s get to work.
And the word of the day is “Infrastructure" (could be Jobs, but I get paid* by the syllable).
Want to win votes in Kentucky? Tennessee? Win back even more military votes+? Make McConnell’s face as purple as his hands?
Well remember when Donald Trump stole money that would build a middle school on a military base. And he then sent that money to build his stupid wall?
Day One: Take all money scheduled for construction of "the wall" and immediately send some of that money to build that school. Tell them, “Trump thought his Wall was more important than your children. We do not agree with that.”
Do the same in States across the country where there are projects that Trump canceled due to the wall. Red states, Blue states. Let those neighborhoods know that what Trump took from them, Biden is giving back. With more to come.
Then, again on Day One, earmark the rest of that "Wall money" to build new bridges and improve roads. Turn closed Walmart’s and Hobby Lobby ‘s into homeless shelters that focus on job training and mental healthcare. Open other centers that focus on ex GI's that also need job training, homes, and mental healthcare.
Then announce that Biden and Harris are starting up a massive Works program that furthers the work stated above.
Create jobs that help the local economy while also providing improvements to those areas. That Middle school will create construction jobs. Improved Bridges will create more jobs. Building training structures and homes for the homeless will create even more jobs.
Do that: creating jobs, income, housing, and local improvements; and the communities, whether large city or small town, will love it.
Let it run for a year or two to really catch steam. Jobs up, unemployment down. Communities improved. Homes created.
Will it run up a bill? At first, but over time it will pay for itself. Trickle up works a hell of a lot better than trickle down. And hell, when did republicans ever care when they are running up bills? F them.
And then, a year or two into this grand plan, say,
“These jobs, these improvements to your town, like farm subsides, like oil subsides, is what Socialism does. It provides jobs that provide income. And with jobs and income comes health, growth, security, and pride. I know many people have been told for years that Socialism is the boogyman. But It’s not scary. It is where almost all healthy, strong countries end up. It is when the people care for each other and work together and improve together as a nation.
A rising tide lifts all boats. A rising country lifts all its people. Just know that for all the hate and fear put out about Government and Socialism, every small US farm would fail without government help (which is Socialism). Every oil company gets government subsidies, which is….Socialism. And yes, healthcare for all would be Socialism. But if farmers and oil companies can benefit from Socialism, then so can people across this great country. So let's all get back to work, each person and every community, to build back better.”
(Sorry if this took a bit of a turn toward talking about Socialism…I just had a conversation with somebody who is an independent and who really dislikes Trump, but mentioned that he fears that Biden will cause a mad rush of our country towards Socialism…Spooky Spooky socialism. It just baffles me that people accept the “socialism” they like (farm subsidies, etc), but hate the word itself.)
rant off..
Day Two: Executive orders that all Trump orders are reversed. Because F that guy.
Day Three and forward: Roll up sleeves and start the hard work ahead, hand in hand with Kamala Harris.
*nobody pays me.
