If the bomber in Nashville had been from the Middle East, or a Muslim, the incident would almost certainly have been called an act of terrorism. But that description hasn’t been applied to bombing by the media, for the most part. Or so it seems to me.
Here’s what’s interesting. On Fox News, stories about the Nashville bombing can be found under the site tag “Terror.” Yet, the stories themselves do not describe the bombing as an act of terror or terrorism.
It is just me, or, do things only get described as Terror when the Other does it? {“othering” = to treat or consider (a person or a group of people) as alien to oneself or one's group (as because of different racial, sexual, or cultural characteristics}
