...to replace the irreplaceable Joy Reid.
Since Reid was named the new host of the 7pm Eastern time slot after the sudden (and ignominious) departure of Chris Matthews, her weekend timeslot, still called AM Joy, has been covered by a succession of fill-ins. Two of the substitutes have been Tiffany D. Cross and Jonathan Capehart.
Today, MSNBC made it official, per WaPo:
With former weekend host Joy Reid now entrenched as MSNBC’s anchor at 7 p.m. each weekday night, the network has picked political analyst Tiffany Cross and journalist Jonathan Capehart to take her place on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Cross, 41, will host a two-hour show at 10 a.m. Saturday, starting Dec. 12, while Capehart, 53, take over the same timeslot on Sundays, starting Dec. 13. Neither show has a name yet.
A good sign of changing times along with the upcoming change in administrations. Congratulations to both of them. (And if you’re on Twitter, you might want to give them a follow: @tiffanydcross and @CapehartJ)
