I was just surfing the web, nosing around like a hungry dog sitting at a computer in that crazy place called Rhode Island. I just saw this piece about a local priest, Fr Richard Bucci, whose current eruption has been noted around the world. This priest considers abortion to be more heinous than pedophilia, because after all, according to him,“pedophilia doesn't kill anyone” I suppose pedophilia does not kill anyone if you don't count those victims who die before their time, because of what this horrendous crime does to the minds and souls of the victims. Does anyone how to tabulate how many victims of child sexual abuse commit suicide later in life? Does the church care about them?. Probably not, since those who commit suicide are considered outside the church and are denied a church funeral. How many victims of child sexual assault, struggling with their demons,go down a destructive downward spiral of self-destructive behavior that leads them to die before their time by means other than suicide? These victims have indeed been killed by pedophilia. What where there names? Do you know the names of those who died because of child sexual assault? Nobody knows. Yes, Fr Bucci, people do die because of pedophilia. Child sexual abuse is soul murder. Do you know that Fr Bucci? This may explain why the Catholic Church has zero tolerance for abortion, but hasn’t always had zero tolerance for pedophilia.
Fr Bucci denies communion to those he knows support the right to abortion, have had an abortion, and also will not let them stand up as godparents at baptisms as his church. The Catholic Church's view on abortion, of course, it that there is a person there at the moment of conception. Zygote lives matter. Thus, the Catholic Church stands with the Republican Party, because of their common goal of outlawing all abortion. The Republican Party also stands for cutting the sorts of programs that help poor women and their children. But that doesn't seem to matter to these folks. Going after access to medical care for poor mothers and their children seems to be OK. And likewise, food stamps and Head Start seem to be fair game. Well, maybe the bishops can talk in over with Mr Trump had one of those prayer breakfasts he seems to enjoy.
