Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) (AOC) spoke to The Huffington Post this week about Medicare for All (*). She has been an outspoken advocate for Medicare for All and has endorsed and campaigned for Sen. Sanders. However, in this conversation, she indicated that she doesn't think M4A will happen, at least not in the near future. She said:
“A president can’t wave a magic wand and pass any legislation they want”
stating a well-known fact that many people neglect to consider. She elaborated:
“The worst-case scenario? We compromise deeply and we end up getting a public option. Is that a nightmare? I don’t think so,” she said.
There's more in the article, including some "on-the-other-hand" comments from AOC.
