*For context on this article, be sure to read The rotten avocados of the Resistance first.
After a little more than 3 years, (has it really been only 3 years?) the demise of Team Avocado is a fact, bar the final throes. Apart from the occasional spasm, the radio silence is deafening.
Here is the current state of affairs: (to see who is who, see the Team Avocado Who’s Who)
- The 4 core members (consisting of 30 Twitter accounts and 27 accounts suspended for violating Twitter rules) seem to be down to 3: Hepzi, Sharyn and Johnny. Carla has been all but silent and invisible for months, while it looks like LeighAnne might have left the cult altogether.
- The followers (consisting of 6 active and 39 inactive followers on Twitter) are barely responding to the very few posts still made by the core.
The posts that are still being made consist of Hepzi trying to convince followers that Team Avocado still exists, Sharyn occasionally whimpering about how unfairly she was treated, and Johnny making a few half-hearted attempts at scamming people for more money from the Lying Triumphs account. Apart from 6 followers, there are barely ever responses to their tweets — a few likes, a few comments, if at all. Most responses are quite non-committal, along the lines of “sending prayers”. Those who have left the cult are wisely keeping quiet about it, in (very real) fear of retaliation.

Hepzi’s “Ministry” account on Facebook has been disabled for at least a year.
There seems to be little more to say on the subject. It’s obvious that there is no way for Hepzi/TA to make a comeback from this — their credibility being in ruins after so many promises of “soon”, the followers having seen them for the scammers they always were. It’s now up to the followers who have been scammed and hurt to de-program, pick up the pieces of their lives, and move on. One can only hope that they have learned from the experience.
A sad by-product of all this is what happened to Sharyn. Since meeting Hepzi, she has lost her job, her husband, her car, her children, her home. Now that the donations have dried up, one can’t help but wonder what will become of her — there is no way she can keep living in hotels the way she had been for almost a year.
Is this the end of Hepzi’s scams? Probably not. She and Johnny are probably working on a new story. This is what they do, and they have been doing it for too long to be able to make an honest living. Hopefully we’ll be able to pick up on it when it materializes and smother it before more people are hurt. Suffice to say, the name Hepzibah Nanna is now so tainted that she will never be able to use it to perpetrate another scam with any amount of success.
