I am desperately hoping someone on here actually has a pipeline, no matter how indirect, to the Warren campaign. I truly believe that Warren is the best person on the debate stage tonight to go after this particular problem with Mike Bloomberg.
In spite of all Mike Bloomberg’s negatives, this article I read on the (UK) Guardian a day or so ago shocked me worse because it’s not just about his past, bad as that might be, but the future, and it’s so counter to the message he’s projecting as the anti-Trump.
As a quick aside, I’m in a Super Tuesday state, so I’ve seen a LOT of Bloomberg ads which are very effective and the reason MB has soared in the polls. For full disclosure I think Warren would make the best president and I’d like for her to get a debate boost, but I also think she’s best positioned to connect with both teachers and parents in attacking Bloomberg on this specific issue.
So here’s the thing: I don’t hear anything about how Bloomberg hates public schools, considers teachers the scum of the earth, and essentially wants to privatise education. This was news to me and I was horrified.
Bloomberg succeeded in massively expanding privately run but publicly funded charter schools during his term as mayor, increasing their number from 18 to 183. His controversial push to “increase school choice” closed over 100 schools in low-income communities and entrenched New York City’s education system as the most racially segregated in the country.

There’s a great deal more at the link. He’s big on increasing testing which both teachers and parents hate, tying teacher pay to test scores, thinks firing half the teachers and doubling class sizes would actually help rather than hurt. On and on.
So it’s probably too late for tonight, but not for Feb. 25 when there’s another debate, In Charleston, before SC votes, and before Super Stupid Tuesday when Mike Bloomberg is actually on the ballot.
