We are now in the eleventh year of the Obama recovery, and the Republicans have been trying to take credit. I got a couple of graphs (for those who can read a graph) and annotated them with the interval of the president’s tenure.
Here is the unemployment record over time, from the Department of Labor Statistics:
You can see from the smoothness of the curve that as the three years of the Trump administration begin, nothing has really changed. No Obama eight years of depression era unemployment, followed by Trump’s salvation.
The hiring record shows exactly the same thing. That is, no vast improvement as Trump assumed the helm of state:
On the far left is the Bush crash, followed by a year and a half of drastic recovery, and then steady growth in hiring. No real change when Trump took over. Instead, it seems he hasn’t yet managed to crash the economy quite yet. That may be coming.
