LOS ANGELES — Longtime Republican Clint Eastwood is pulling support from Donald Trump in the 2020 election. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the actor-director signaled that he thinks a different candidate would be the better choice.
"The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there," he said.
After endorsing Mitt Romney and famously delivering a speech at the 2012 Republican National Convention to an empty chair that represented Barack Obama, Eastwood never officially backed Trump. In a 2016 interview, he expressed displeasure with Trump and Hillary Clinton, saying there's "much funny business on both sides of the aisle."
Yeah, you may remember Mr. Eastwood as the guy who had an argument with an empty chair at 2012, which is probably the most indicative thing of the current GOP: A confused and angry old man yelling at nothing. So if Trumps lost Clint’s endorsement he may be in trouble.
Hours after he was sentenced to more than three years in prison, Roger Stone sat in a Washington, DC restaurant, using a phone to watch as President Trump talked about Stone’s sentence.
Stone, sitting among a group of people at The Palm, appeared calm as he sat with his jacket off at a table in the center of the room.
Earlier Thursday, US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced Stone, an adviser and friend to Trump, to three years and four months in prison for lying to Congress and threatening a witness regarding his efforts for the President's 2016 campaign. Stone also received two-years probation on each count, running concurrently. He must undergo substance abuse testing, participate in community service and pay a $20,000 fine.
Asked if he was expecting good news today, Stone told CNN reporters, “I don’t know, that’s why we’re watching. The President is speaking right now.”
The President didn't rule out an eventual pardon or commutation, but said the process should play out first.
Yeah, how about you ask Manafort how that whole “Pardon” thing worked out Stone.
Also, 40 months may not seem like much, but guess what: Its 40 more months in a jail cell than Hillary Clinton will ever see. ;).
eb. 22 (UPI) -- Greyhound has announced it will no longer allow U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to conduct routine immigration checks on its buses without warrants, reversing a statement two years ago that it would allow them.
A CBP spokesperson told CNN Border Patrol agents had been trained at the academy on protocols to ask for consent for years in a report about the Greyhound statement made Friday.
Good for Greyhound. Tell Trump stooges to eff off.
Fabulous. I hope Trump becomes so paranoid that he fires every semi-competent official working for him, thus becoming even less able to execute any of his nutball plans. It’s true that there’s danger in having a bunch of inept toadies running the executive branch, but in this case it’s probably a blessing overall.
Yeah, Trumps mental decline continues, which is good for us in the long run. I hope every second he is in the White House is agony for that man.
President Donald Trump blasted the “loser shows” on Fox News after a guest on the right-leaning network gave his performances in the 2016 debates abysmal reviews.
Yeah he’s doing that again. Trump can’t take anyone criticizing him, even the most milquetoast criticism wounds him to his very core, so he’ll even go after Fox news, which is bad for him.
And that’s it for this week. Sorry the pickings were slim, it be that way some times, especially during Primary season. In any case, have a good week.
