Here at Freewayblogger we know you have a choice when it comes to protesting the destruction of our nation and appreciate your taking the time to compare our numbers to the other guys. The signs shown here were made by people just like yourself using cardboard, paint and the first amendment. Placed easily, and LEGALLY, by freeways, with very few exceptions, each was seen by at least 20,000 people and usually many, many more.
Now let’s compare those numbers to the popular “Unfollow Trump” movement that, if successful, will enlist the efforts of some 10 million resisters to send a message to Donald Trump. Crunch the numbers and you’ll find EACH ONE OF THE SIGNS SHOWN HERE has an overall semiotic impact OVER 200 BILLION TIMES that of unfollowing Trump. Multiplied by the 100+ signs below and we’re talking some real numbers and hope you’ll agree that signposting’s the obvious choice of the discerning protester.
While it’s true the message being attempted by the Unfollow Movement is aimed at the man acting as President, it’s impact is undermined by the fact it’s expressed intention is simply to anger a man who’s never been happy a day in his life.
And while painting and posting a sign requires slightly more than clicking a button, it requires substantially less than months of getting gassed and shelled in trenches, battling Nazis across Europe and North Africa, or being starved and tortured on the Bataan Death March.
And let there be no mistake: our’s is exactly the same cause.
The signs below appeared on freeways in Denver, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Fresno, and all around the San Francisco Bay area and Southern California since January 1st.
Twitter suspended the account of the signmaker above for bullshit reasons, just like it suspended Patrick Randall’s. Please consider signmaking as an alternative when the election nears and they suspend yours too.
I’m reminded that one of the top trending hashtags yesterday was to #AbolishTheCIA.
Perhaps when it’s joined by similar calls for complete and unconditional unilateral nuclear disarmament or making Vladimir Putin’s birthday a National Holiday people will begin to understand the sort of Free Speech that platform now represents.
Above and below, @Scorchsky in Phoenix.
Above and below, the Alphabet Resistance in Seattle.
As some of you know I’ve been caretaking for a friend lately, which I hope will explain my absence here at Daily Kos and largely from the freeways. That job is now over, so please rest assured I’ll be returning full force soon.
Most of these signs were done by the seemingly inexhaustible @suevisa.
