Republicans who desire for everyone to have lungs as black as those in Rush Limbaugh have flown all around the world in their quest to find a teenager who wants to make the Earth as uninhabitable for humanity as possible.
They found one. A German hard right teenager, very much of the Aryan type, known by the name Naomi Seibt. The far right radical regurgitates all the usual hate filled tripe that other fascists regurgitate, such as opposition to feminism and immigration. She claims not to support the neo Nazi AfD despite having spoken at one of their events, despite supporting their platform and despite getting discovered by Republicans at an event sponsored by the Vice President of the AfD.
Heartland decided to fund the right wing teenager for a long as she regurgitates her opposition to a liveable planet. The Heartland Institute is an influential “libertarian” so called “think tank”, it is run from Chicago and has the ear of the Trump administration. Heartland is of course funded by anonymous and secretive donors.
The Washington Post reports:
Founded in 1984 and funded largely by anonymous donors, Heartland has increasingly focused on climate change over the past decade. Its staff and researchers enjoy ready access to the Trump administration, and one of its senior fellows, William Happer, served as a senior director on the White House National Security Council between September 2018 and 2019.
An emeritus professor of physics at Princeton University, Happer has repeatedly argued that carbon emissions should be viewed as beneficial to society — not a pollutant that drives global warming. During his time with the Trump administration, he sought to enlist Heartland’s help in promoting his ideas and objected to a U.S. intelligence official’s finding that climate impacts could be “possibly catastrophic,” according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.
The hard right is concerned that because Germany is leading the fight to combat climate change other countries will follow. A joint investigation from CORRECTIV and Frontal21 revealed how the American Heartland Institute is supporting climate change deniers in Germany with the goal of undermining global climate protection measures.
They have assembled a team that can be bought by any polluter. Campaign donations can be funneled tax free and anonymously via the United States.
The Investigators got James Taylor, chief strategist and director of climate policy at the Heartland Institute to explain
how he is able to raise awareness of topics in exchange for money, how people can make tax-deductible donations anonymously through a U.S. foundation, and how the Institute’s publications mimic the tone of the New York Times so obscure ideas are taken more seriously. He detailed how he intends to make a young YouTuber from Germany the star of climate denier, and how he works closely with German partners whose ideas are consistently cited by the AfD in the Bundestag.
Then a few weeks later, Taylor will send an offer in writing. It is something like a strategy document for a PR campaign in Germany: A campaign that the public will not recognize for what it really is, making it even more effective.
The goal: No more prohibitive climate laws. Diesel instead of electric cars, energy from coal instead of wind turbines, industry growth instead of environmental protection.
To Republicans and the far right climate denial is a huge business. A business of disinformation is professionally scattered around news sources and social media by supposed experts and corrupt scientists.
To these republicans even Seibt is a product. A willing product but a product and a tool to be used by polluters. The Neo NAZI says she is not an “anti-Greta” as that “suggests I myself am an indoctrinated puppet”. Heartland will let you use the AfD linked YouTuber as a central part of any pro polluter campaign and “she is eager to direct her viewers to topics on environmental overreach”.
Republicans will even use her and other “influencers” to argue that diesel is safe and not harmful.
The two scientific professionals, Dunn and Milloy, “are two of the science experts Heartland would – if properly funded – like to utilize calling attention to the minimal health impacts of diesel engines, coal power plants, and other conventional energy sources”
If you want a pro polluter campaign with fake scientists you can have one. Pay big money and getting an AfD definitely not Nazi pretty faced NaZi who will explain why the planet becoming uninhabitable is a good thing. The influencers will do anything to promote your pollutants.
