As of now we are down to seven candidates for the Democratic nomination. I am thankful for all who have stepped into the race to try to serve in the nation's highest office. Instead of backing a certain candidate. I thought I would give my thoughts on the final Seven .
Mayor Michael Bloomberg
The former Republican Mayor of New York has been on the receiving end of attacks from candidates such as Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Bernie Sanders. Mainly for the stop and frisk policy and his support for Republican candidates such as former Senator Scott Brown. There is a place for Bloomberg in American politics just not as President of the United States. I think he would do a great job as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Director of the OMB.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren
I have nothing but good things to say about the Senator from Massachusetts. I think she ran a great campaign for President. She brought Roger Lau as her campaign manager. Got endorsements from Julian and Joaquin Castro, Richard Cordray, Ed Markey, Joe Kennedy III and Former Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis. If she gets the nomination she would have my support but I would like to see her stay in the senate as a committee chair. The Banking committee would be a great fit.
Former Vice President Joe Biden
In my humble opinion. Joe Biden is one of the most admired Vice President’s in recent American history. ( Look at the past V.P. 's since 1980. It doesn't take much). I think Biden should have ran in 2016 as an alternative to Clinton. It would not bother me if he gets the nomination but I would like someone new. Biden has my vote but a fresh face would be great.
U.s Senator Amy Klobuchar
I actually met District Attorney Amy Klobuchar while shopping at the Mall of America. It is true according to congress.gov She is the most accomplished senator. In her campaign she has got the endorsement of former Vice President Walter Mondale, fellow Minnesota Senator Tina Smith, former Congressman Joe Sestak and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Like Senator Warren she is more effective as a U.S. Senator. She would be great as a U.S. Senate officers such as Assistant Majority Leader or even Majority Leader if Democrats can take the senate.
Tom Steyer
I respect Steyer’s political involvement in trying to get Trump impeached. Steyer is a very successful fundraiser for political candidates. Therefore he is better behind the scenes such as an advisory role or possible DNC officer.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg
Mayor Pete has really surprised me since he ran for chair of the DNC. Like any of these candidates I enjoy listening to Mayor Pete. He gathered supporters of Beto O’rourke and Kamala Harris to build a bigger tent. I would gladly support Mayor Pete. But if he doesn't get the nomination. He would be a great candidate for Governor or U.S. Senator of Indiana.
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders
First to get it out of the way. I voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primary in Wisconsin. That is not to say I don’t respect Senator Sanders or any of his policy views. He is right. Why are we the the only industrialized country that doesn’t offer free health care or education. Senator Sanders has a good chance to be the nominee and I would gladly support him.
Conclusion
Out of the seven we have about three or four of them that would be great Democratic nominees. But please remember we need to build a much bigger stronger base that acknowledges that what works in Los Angeles, California may not work in rural Wisconsin.
The best thing about primaries we can have this debate, vote for the candidate that you think would be the best nominee. But please remember we all are progressives at the end of the day.
