Yes, for those of you who weren’t yet privy to politics in 2000, perhaps not born, the Supreme Court stopped an initial count in order to protect George Bush’s equal protection under the law. What was he being protected from?
Losing the election he claimed to have won. Sound familiar?
If the IDP doesn’t finish the count to 100% prior to a recanvass, we are essentially seeing a repeat of Bush v. Gore.
Will Bernie win? Don’t know and don’t care. The point is we count the damn votes before we recount them. That’s how we do it. Otherwise we end up with illegitimate results and wars in Iraq.
No, this is not as important as Florida. No, it is not the end of the world. But process matters. And this is bad process.
Who asked for a recount? Supposedly a campaign must do so under the rules. I’m not happy to post this, but we are not being remotely realistic if we think stopping the count at 97% won’t cost us party unity.
Update: Perez has tweeted that results will continue to be reported.
Anyone saying I am reporting CT can retract that now. I am following the story. If the IDP reports I will be happy, as the diary says. That’s what I WANT.
