To no one’s surprise, Donald Trump confirmed that he personally has a vendetta against Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman for his impeachment testimony, and more or less confirmed that Vindman will be moved off of the National Security Council staff. “Well, I’m not happy with him,” Trump told reporters. “You think I’m supposed to be happy with him? I’m not.”
The thing is, some presidents understand that their personal feelings are not the be-all and end-all of government. Trump then suggested that his staff would “make that decision,” but it sure sounds like the decision is coming straight from a certain pursed orange mouth.
Trump also retweeted a supporter saying, “Vindman’s behavior is a scandal. He should be removed from the @RealDonaldTrump White House ASAP to protect our foreign policy from his machinations.” So, you know, wait for Trump’s “staff” to make the decision on Vindman.
“The Pentagon assured me that patriots & whistleblowers like LTC Vindman will be protected,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tweeted. “Any reprisals against him or others who came forward to tell the truth are wrong and should be seen for what they are: An extension of President Trump's cover-up.”
